Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website cost?

Depending on the needs of your website, it could cost anywhere from about $3 – $10k+. Generally, website redesigns are cheaper if you already have all the content and most of the software to be used. Additional fees can also be added if you want additional items not included in your original proposal, but I will work with you as best I can so that we know exactly what we will need from the beginning.

How long does a website project take?

This one can be tricky. Generally, website design projects take about 8-12 weeks, as long as there is completely open and quick lines of communication. I’ve had projects that were quick and easy, and others that we a bit more difficult because communication was slow. The greatest successes come when we work together as a team!

Do we need to meet in person?

With the conveniences of the digital age, it’s great that we don’t have to always worry about planning our whole days around traveling for a meeting. Most of my clients are out of state and I communicate largely via email, client portals, or videochats. No matter what the distance, we’ll get our work done in person or not.

Who happens if something goes wrong with my website?

Provided you subscribe to an ongoing maintenance plan, I will be your first point of call should something go wrong with your website that I’m not aware of at the time. I will determine whether it is something the hosting company needs to fix or if it is covered by your website care plan. I will provide training and video tutorials to assist you in using your website once it is launched, so that there are basic, non-emergency adjustments you yourself can make as well.

What is SEO?

SEO (short for Search Engine Optimization) is how search engines, like Google, find your website. And while there are many ways this is done, most commonly and most effectively, it’s by how well your website is utilizing search words and phrases that viewers are asking of their search engines. For example, if you wrote a blog entitled “Top 10 Movies of 1987” and someone typed into their search engine, we’ll use Google in this example, 1987 movies, there’s a chance your article will pop up because it contained the words “1987” and “movies.” Where it can get tricky is how big the competition is. If there are five thousand other articles on 1987 movies, perhaps with more words within their blog title that match the inquiry, Google will show that result in a list before yours. Other ways that listings rank higher is by being proven as useful content. This can be in the form of high-traffic (competitively), thoroughness of blog posts, number of social media shares, and much more. SEO has many different tactics that are constantly changing. Results often take time and always require planning and research.

As a tip, I tell my clients, Prove yourself an expert on the content you create and you’re well on your way to better results.
